About Us

Home / About Us

Come home to yourself.

At Tazkiyah Psychotherapy, we believe healing is not about becoming someone new—
it’s about coming home to yourself; returning to who you were always meant to be.

Life can feel heavy. You may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to make sense of what you’re carrying. In therapy, we create space to slow down, reflect, and gently understand what’s been underneath it all.

Our approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in both evidence-based care and a deeper understanding of the self. We support you in building clarity, emotional resilience, and a more compassionate relationship with yourself—at a pace that feels right for you.

About Raiyan Chowdhury:

Are you a young male or young professional who has taken the courageous first step to seek out support? Are you a caregiver trying the best you can yet worried about your child’s mental wellbeing? Are you looking for a male therapist who can connect with your struggle of anxiety, depression, anger issues, emotional dysregulation, or motivation? Choosing a therapist that you feel connected with in sharing your vulnerable parts can be daunting. As a South-Asian, Muslim, Male, Second-Generation Immigrant, I want you to know that I commit to creating a safe space to explore your full humanness.

My Approach

I believe that the central pillar for effective therapy is the relationship with the client. I prioritize developing an understanding of your world in order to provide the best possible holistic care. Working with a foundation of CBT, while incorporating skills from DBT, CFT, and MI, I aim to create a personalized experience for each client. I would be honoured to walk alongside you through this journey of vulnerability and learning with a strength-focused, empathic, creative, and culturally-sensitive approach to therapy. I feel privileged to witness your growth and look forward to meeting you! If you have any questions, please book a 20-min consultation so we can explore if we are a good fit!

What to expect in our first session

To connect, human to human. The first session is about creating an environment where you feel like you can exist as you are; to allow ourselves to feel this shared space as safe and non-judgmental. You can expect to be validated in your struggles and for curiosity to be the driving force for exploration as we plan how we will navigate towards a desired collaboratively-agreed upon solution. Come as you are, explore where you want to be; Let’s take the first step together.

About Samiha Rahman:

With over a decade of experience in the social service and health sector, I offer therapy with warmth, honesty, and a down-to-earth approach. My focus areas include eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, grief, relational issues, and emotional dysregulation.

My Approach

I practice from an integrative, or holistic framework, which means I combine techniques and elements from different therapeutic schools of thought such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), BioPsychoSocial, and Attachment Therapy to tailor my approach to your unique needs. I am committed to serving women and young adults, providing a safe and understanding space for your specific concerns. Additionally, I offer therapy in both English and Bengali.

What to expect in our first session

You can expect the first session to be whatever you need in that given moment! Whether that’s a need to tell me everything from beginning to end, or seeking a particular solution to a specific challenge. The main goal of the first session is to meet you where you are at, and start and continue the ongoing journey of building our therapist and client relationship: one the greatest indicators of positive change in therapy 🙂 Together, we can work towards healing and reconnecting with the parts of yourself that have long needed care.
