About Raiyan Chowdhury:

Have you taken the courageous step to seek counselling, but worry if your therapist will understand? Like really understand. Will they understand that your cultural values prioritized in your family differs from the western values you are growing up in? Will it be awkward to talk about your relationship to faith and religion? That being a young man means being told feelings and expressing emotions are okay but not growing up with a healthy example of how? As a South-Asian, Muslim, Male, Second-Generation Immigrant, I understand the need for a safe space to explore your struggles in the full context of who you are.

Inspired by my volunteer work with Naseeha Muslim Youth Helpline, I set out to make a career in creating a safe space for youth, young adults, and their families where they feel accepted and free of judgement as they explore who they are and navigate life’s decisions. I believe that the central pillar for effective therapy is the relationship with the client and so prioritize developing an understanding of your world in order to provide the best possible holistic care. Working with a foundation of CBT, while incorporating skills from DBT, CFT, and MI, I aim to create a personalized experience for each client.

I would be honoured to walk alongside you through this journey of vulnerability and learning with a strength-focused, empathic, creative, and culturally-sensitive approach to therapy. I feel privileged to witness your growth and look forward to meeting you

About Samiha Rahman:

With over a decade of experience in the social service and health sector, I offer therapy with warmth, honesty, and a down-to-earth approach. My focus areas include eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, grief, relational issues, and emotional dysregulation.

My Approach

I practice from an integrative, or holistic framework, which means I combine techniques and elements from different therapeutic schools of thought such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), BioPsychoSocial, and Attachment Therapy to tailor my approach to your unique needs. I am committed to serving women and young adults, providing a safe and understanding space for your specific concerns. Additionally, I offer therapy in both English and Bengali.

What to expect in our first session

You can expect the first session to be whatever you need in that given moment! Whether that’s a need to tell me everything from beginning to end, or seeking a particular solution to a specific challenge. The main goal of the first session is to meet you where you are at, and start and continue the ongoing journey of building our therapist and client relationship: one the greatest indicators of positive change in therapy 🙂 Together, we can work towards healing and reconnecting with the parts of yourself that have long needed care.
